Your Canoe Trip Day by Day

Day 1

Argentat-Beaulieu

An easy trip for everyone, punctuated by numerous cliffs, typical villages, and small castles. A few slightly more challenging sections between Argentat and Beaulieu, and two canoe slides…

Passing through Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne and its magnificent chapel on the riverbank.

Class 2 route. Approximately 3.5 hours of paddling without breaks.

Overnight stay at the "Huttopia" campsite in Beaulieu on the banks of the Dordogne.
In Beaulieu: campsite, hotels, restaurants and grocery store for supplies.

Day 2

Beaulieu-Vayrac

Passing through the village of Carennac, classified among "the most beautiful villages of France".

Class 1 route. Approximately 4.5 hours of paddling without breaks.

Overnight stay at the "Les Granges" campsite in Vayrac on the banks of the Dordogne.
In Vayrac: no hotels and the village is 2 km from the Dordogne.

Day 3

Vayrac-Saint-Sozy

A beautiful descent between the limestone cliffs of the Quercy region, passing at the foot of Mirandol Castle viewpoint Copeyre, with the option to visit Gluges and its church. A stop is possible at Montvalent to see the resurgence of the underground river from the Padirac Cave (10-minute walk). You will also have the opportunity to stop in Creysse, a typical village of the Lot region.

Class 1 rapids. Approximately 3.5 hours of paddling, excluding breaks

Overnight stay at the "Les Borgnes" campsite in Saint-Sozy on the banks of the Dordogne.
In Saint-Sozy: campsite, hotel, grocery store and restaurants.

Day 4

Saint-Sozy-Souillac

Class 1 rapids. Approximately 3.5 hours of paddling, excluding breaks

A day dedicated to the cliffs and castles of the Lot region. Swimming breaks on a pebble beach opposite Belcastel Castle, passing under the Château de la Treyne, classified as a "Relais et Châteaux".

Night at the "Les Ondines" campsite in Souillac on the banks of the Dordogne.

Day 5

Souillac-Saint-Julien-de-Lampon

Before setting off, a quick stop in Souillac is a must. Visit the Abbey and the Louis Roque Distillery, specialists in "Vieille Prune" (Old Plum). Pick up a few things at the farmers' market for your picnic and you're off! Birds, beaches, wild swimming, and relaxation all the way to St Julien de Lampon.

Class 1 rapids. Approximately 3.5 hours of paddling, excluding breaks

Night at the municipal campsite of Saint-Julien-de-Lampon** or in bivouac.

Day 6

Saint-Julien-de-Lampon-Vitrac

Passing through the Montfort bend and its castle perched atop the cliff.

Class 1 rapids. Approximately 3.5 hours of paddling, excluding breaks

Overnight stay at the "Le Perpetuum"*** campsite or in a bivouac.
Or, for a night in a comfortable bed, book now at the "La Treille"*** hotel-restaurant in Vitrac, accessible from the river.

Day 7

From Vitrac to Beynac

You'll pass by the village of Domme. Then, you can't miss Laroque-Gageac, a troglodyte village and the land of the river bargemen. The river is calm here; let yourself drift and admire this jewel of the Périgord. Just a few kilometers further on, you'll discover the Château de Castelnaud, a fantastic medieval fortress facing the Château de Beynac and the gardens of Marqueyssac.

Final stop just after Vézac Castle.

Shuttle on the first morning from Vayrac to Argentat at 9:00 am and return by bus from Beynac to Vayrac at 3:30 pm.

– Loan of one waterproof container per person
– Bus transport from and back to the rental base

Prices:

€203.00 per adult in a 2 or 3 person canoe
, €161.00 per child under 12 in a 2 or 3 person canoe,
€224.00 in a single person kayak.

-10% off your stay if you pay in full at the time of booking.

Additional nights are available.
If you choose to stay at campsites, we can reserve a pitch for you. To do so, select the option when making your online reservation.
You will pay for your nights directly at each campsite. Expect to pay between €15 and €20 per person per night.

Additional canister: €2.00 per day per canister.

Material

Old Town Discovery or Nova Craft Prospector canoes if you decide to bring your camping gear in the canoe.
Tribal 2/3-person kayak, unsinkable and self-bailing, if you choose the luggage transport option.
Rotomod Tango single-person kayak or Dag Treck 1, unsinkable and self-bailing.

Safaraid Dordogne
