This 5 day trip on the Loire is accessible to all, no need to be an expert in canoeing. About twenty kilometres per day, that is to say about 3.5 hours of walking, which allows you to stroll and take advantage of breaks to visit and get supplies. A trip away from modernity, a return to the roots, unique emotions and a 100% natural and relaxing pleasure await you during this trip. Don't forget to visit Blois before or after your canoe trip (castles, museum, old town...)

Organisation: Welcome at the Loire Kayak base the day before or at least 30 minutes before the shuttles (9:30 or 11:00 am), description of your trip, equipment, then shuttle by minibus to the departure point. At the end of your canoe trip, we will pick you up in Saint Etienne de Chigny.

 

Programme :

Day 1: Cavereau - Base Loire Kayak: 20 km (4h canoeing)
During your day: you will pass by the castle of Colliers, the church of Saint Dyé sur Loire (former port of Chambord), the village of Cour sur Loire and the castle of Menars. This is one of the most beautiful canoe trips on the Loire!

Overnight stay: Stop at the base, at the Val de Blois campsite, possibility of renting equipped tents or chalets (200m from the Loire Kayak base), hotels, gites, bed and breakfast... (You can collect your vehicle from the car park at our base). Bivouac possible upstream and downstream of the base.
Possible visits: Chambord, Cheverny and Blois castles, bike rides(hire on site).

Day 2: Base Loire Kayak - Chaumont: 20 km (4h canoeing)
You will cross Blois and pass by the port of La Creusille, where you will see the traditional boats of the Loire bargemen, arriving in Chaumont sur Loire at the left bank campsite before the bridge.

Nuitée : Camping de Chaumont sur Loire, hôtel, gite.
Visite : Château et Jardins de Chaumont sur Loire.

Day 3: Chaumont - Amboise: 18 km (4h canoeing)
You will pass by the castles of Chaumont sur Loire and Amboise.

Overnight stay: Camping de l'île d'or (Amboise), hotel, gite.
Visit: Amboise Castle, Clos Lucé (last residence of Leonardo da Vinci).

Day 4: Amboise - Vouvray: 14 km (3h canoeing)
A few kilometres after Amboise, you will pass by Montlouis sur Loire on the left bank where you can refuel, drink or visit.

Overnight stay: Camping des Peupliers (Montlouis sur Loire), hotel, gite, bivouac.
Visit : Troglodytic cellars on the banks of the Loire, the village of Montlouis/Loire and the Maison de Loire.

Day 5: Vouvray - Saint Etienne de Chigny: 17 km (3h30 canoeing)
You will pass by the troglodytic houses of Rochecorbon and then cross the city of Tours.

Visit: Old town of Tours and the quays of the Loire during the portage to the Wilson bridge, château de Luynes.

Once at the meeting point, we will pick you up and take you back to the base by mini-bus.

Practical information and instructions:

Know how to swim 25 meters and immerse yourself.
One 55L canister per person.
A map, a roadbook and a free smartphone application will be provided to accompany you during your canoe trip.
The shuttle is provided at the end of the day on thefirst day.
Accommodation not included and camping equipment not provided.
Free and unsupervised parking.
Possibility to buy on site :
- Neoprene slippers,
- Waterproof bags (30 to 60 L) and telephone bags.

100,00 € par enfant – de 12 ans en kayak 2 ou 3 places

This price includes the rental of sit-on-top canoes or kayaks, with paddles, life jackets, one water bottle per person and the mini-bus shuttle.

+3€/pers/day for Canadian canoe rental

For more than 2 days of canoeing, we recommend the Canadian canoe, Nova Craft Porspector 15'6, which is ideal if you are travelling with a full load and want to take all your canoeing gear with you.
