Le Poujol - Cessenon | 3 days | 35 km | Nature trip

From 94,00

Day 1 : Poujol-sur-Orb - Tarassac=>10km/ 3 to 4h on the water

Meeting point in Roquebrun.
On the way up to Le Poujol-sur-Orb, our shuttle stops at Tarassac to drop off your car with your bivouac gear.
Once the car has been dropped off, our shuttle bus will take you up to the start of Le Poujol.
This way, navigation is made easier and you leave with the bare minimum.

You gradually navigate between gravel pits and sandy beaches. The Orb takes its time, at least at the beginning.
Arriving at the Colombières dam, at the foot of the Caroux, the first adrenaline rush, with a 30-metre slide!
4 kilometres later, you will see the blue and yellow suspension bridge of Tarassac, you arrive on the most manoeuvrable rapids. Be careful when passing these rapids of the "grille" and the "moulin", you will lose 10 metres of difference in height.
300m later, the rapids on the right bank of the campsite could surprise you, and on the left bank, watch out for the bathers on the beach of the Tarassac campsite.

Overnight stay
Those who have chosen to spend the night at this campsite stop here (bring your paddle and waistcoat to your tent).
For those who go to the bivouac, there is still 200m to go, on the right bank you will pass the mouth of the Jaur, it is from the Jaur that the EDF releases. 100m after on the left: the beach of Tarassac where you will bivouac.

Day 2 : Tarassac - Roquebrun =>15km/ 5h on the water

On the second day, we advise you to be in the water by 9 o'clock at the latest, to take advantage of the awakening nature.
After a 200 meter stretch of water, the river splits, go through the left rapid, on the right the rapid may be in water, in case of EDF release...and you will finish on foot.
3 kilometres after your departure, you pass under the submersible bridge of Drouille.
The mountainous landscapes, with their tall green trees, give way to vineyards and olive trees, but the Orb's course is punctuated by rapids.
2 kilometres later you cross the village of Vieussan, passing under its bridge and then its footbridge. On the left bank, you will notice the water level scale which indicates its submersibility at a height of 5 metres of water, i.e. 600m3/s. Impressive, isn't it?
You will admire the gorges of Vieussan with the cliffs of Camps, a climbing site and inhabited by beautiful birds of prey. Be careful with the rock, respect the signs.
At the exit of the gorges, beware of the left-hand rapid, possibility of a tie, you will see on the right bank the Razégue estate, goat breeding, respect the herds.
2km later you arrive at the village of Ceps with a first rapid to negotiate under the bridge on the left.
The course becomes more bucolic but some rapids could surprise you, the rapid of Aqualand and the S followed by the rapid of the hole and its drossage!

Overnight stay
You will spend the second night in Roquebrun, the southern gateway to the Haut Languedoc Natural Park. The campsite and the numerous accommodations in the village will allow you to spend a good night.

Day 3: Roquebrun - Cessenon =>10km/ 3 to 4 hours on the water

To avoid the beach on the right bank, reserved for bathers after the bridge, turn left to pass between the two mills, a tricky rapid.
A series of small rapids takes you to the trou du curé, follow the signs and turn left. Do not go to the right as this rapid is reserved for the initiated.
After a nice stretch of water, you will arrive at the Maynard dam, turn right to cross the canoe slide, on the left is the turbine channel.
After the slide, there is a pretty rapid up to the difficult rapid de l'équerre, don't hesitate to carry according to the water level and you can even surf the small wave at the exit, at the foot of the dam.on the last few kilometres, on the left bank, the Foulon waterfall which supplies Cessenon with drinking water and which sometimes flows in spring. Then two large bodies of water punctuated by a rapid, the Baous.
You will glide to Cessenon and meet: Ashy heron, egret, mink and small beaches.
When you see the tower of Cessenon, you are almost there, the river turns left and at the end of the water you will see the metal bridge of Cessenon.
You stop 50m before the left bridge on the campsite beach. Watch out for bathers

When you arrive in Cessenon (left bank 50m before the metal bridge), call us and we will pick you up in the late afternoon.
We will take you back to Roquebrun where your car is waiting for you in our car park.
