Take a multi-day trip on the all rivers in class 1, 2 with all types of boats is quite possible, whether it be unsinkable double hulls or single hulls with a flat bottom, or even inflatable boats.

Nevertheless, some models of canoe or kayak are more adapted according to the rivers, the number of days, the equipment to be transported or the options offered by the canoe rental companykayak that you will choose.

Choosing a CANOE FRANCE rental company means choosing equipment produced entirely in France: paddles, waistcoats, boats!

The Canadian canoe: space and stability

The Canadian style canoe, Old Town or Nova Craft, according to the real "Canadians" are both stable and reliable. They will accommodate you and your gear. The Old Town style canoe is a single hull, so there is more room to carry your gear. It is the ideal canoe for calm rivers and for stays of 4 days or more in total autonomy.
Find these models on the DORDOGNEthe LOIREthe VIENNE and GARTEMPE or theARDECHE and theALLIER (with conditions).

There are now models of canoes that keep the spirit of the Canadian and are made of high density polyethylene, either single hull like the Riviera, or unsinkable like the Canadia. These boats have the particularity of being able to travel with 3 or 2 people and have more room to carry your luggage. They are stable and sturdy while maintaining the same navigation as the real Canadians. The Riviera model is also available with a backrest for even more comfort.
The Riviera can be proposed on the TARN and the VEZERE.
For the Canadia, many rivers have adopted it like theALLIERthe DORDOGNEthe LOIREARDECHE, VIENNE and GARTEMPE.

With Canadian type boats, you will be advised to use a single paddle.

The sit-on-top canoe: unsinkable and manoeuvrable

Sit-on-tops are unsinkable double-hulled plastic boats, self-draining or not, even more stable and above all more manoeuvrable. They are suitable for 2 or 3 people, the middle seat being more suitable for a child aged 6 to 9.

With this type of boat, the seat is lower, so you can opt for the double paddle in the back as well as in the front. In a 2-seater, you can put up to 2 waterproof containers of 55 litres.

For 2 to 3 day trips, this type of boat is recommended on almost all rivers or on sites offering baggage tracking, such as on the DORDOGNE, ALLIER and AVEYRON.

Some models are evolving like theOptimo Evo: this model has a backrest (optional) for more comfort. Some rivers offer it: theARDECHE, the DROME...

And the kayak, is it suitable for hiking?

The sit-on-tops are also available in a single-seat version, with the same shape, and are therefore very stable and easy to steer. A 55 litre waterproof container can also be attached to the stern. These boats are suitable for young people from the age of 11.

2 models stand out from the rest:
The Taïki, which can be found on almost all the rivers, is also available with a backrest (optional).
The Tango, which is offered on the DORDOGNE and the VEZERE, also available with backrest (optional).
